Landscaper in Ferntree Gully
Ferntree Gully is where Knox meets the Dandenongs. Down near the shops and the station, streets are fairly flat and suburban. Head towards the national park, the 1000 Steps and One Tree Hill, and the blocks tilt, the gum trees get bigger and the gardens get trickier. We work across both.

On the flatter streets
Lower Ferntree Gully homes are mostly established family blocks. Many of these gardens have had a few decades to grow, so there's usually something worth keeping and something that needs to go. Typical jobs are backyard makeovers: a new paved or decked entertaining area, fresh turf, replacing tired garden beds, and swapping an old sleeper wall for something that will last.
On the foothill slopes
Closer to the park, the work is more about managing the slope:
- Retaining walls and terracing to create usable flat areas
- Steps and paths that stay safe and grippy in wet weather under the trees
- Drainage to deal with run-off coming down from the hill
- Decks to create outdoor space without heavy excavation
- Shade-tolerant planting and mulch under established eucalypts
Good to know: bushfire risk
Homes near the Dandenong Ranges National Park are in a higher fire-risk area. If yours is one of them, think about where you put plants, mulch, timber and firewood near the house. The CFA's free "Landscaping for Bushfire" guide is a good starting point, and you can check your property's overlays on VicPlan.
Nearby: Upwey, Rowville and Belgrave.
